Black Heritage French Doors with Side Lights, Ealing, West London

Location: Ealing, West London

For this mid-terrace period property in the heart of Ealing, West London, we installed black heritage French doors with sidelights into a new rear kitchen extension to merge the charm of the past with 21st-century modern functionality.

The period family home is situated on the edge of the historic Brentham Conservation Area and a stone’s throw from the popular Pitshanger Village.

The Ealing homeowners had built a new rear extension and came to Thames Valley Windows, as recommended by their architects, Resi. They contacted us for a quote for black steel-look French doors with sidelights and a fixed window, and emailed the architectural plans so we could determine the size of the apertures.

Thames Valley Windows has collaborated with Resi Architects for several years and is part of the Architects’ Referral Scheme.

Our designer, George, contacted the Ealing homeowners and, after reviewing the architect’s plans and listening to their brief, recommended that they visit our Bracknell showroom to view the range of aluminium French doors on display.

Part of the homeowners’ brief was that they loved the timeless and elegant look of the iconic traditional steel black French doors.

At the showroom appointment, George showed the homeowners the external black French doors on display. He discussed the various options and features, including ultra-slim framing, thermal break, glazing, handles, and a multi-point locking system.

After careful consideration, the Ealing homeowners decided on the Air Mod Heritage French doors and sidelights with 40 mm astragal bars, which maximise the glass area spaces & would flood the new kitchen extension with natural light.

The homeowners chose RAL 9005, Jet Black, powder-coated finish for the doors, windows, and black handles.

Once the Homeowners’ contract had been signed and the deposit paid, we booked a date for our surveyor to meet with the customers & their builder. The surveyor would measure the apertures, discuss the finer details of the French door and window installation, and verify that the glazing products met the latest Building Regulations.

The Ealing homeowners are delighted with the Black Heritage French doors and sidelights and advised of the following:

1. What helped you make your decision? Price/quality/features, etc?

We saw the Everglade windows at a Home Exhibition and really liked the look and quality, especially the safety features. Through our architects, we were introduced to TVW, who offered us an excellent and competitive price for the doors and windows.

2. Results – did it meet aspirations, what impact has the installation had – lifestyle change, property value, space added, etc.

Absolutely met expectations. The doors are the showstopper of our extension and have added significant value to our lives, and undoubtedly to the value of our property. The doors are not only visually beautiful; they also provide much more light, are soundproof, and make us feel incredibly secure.

3. Why did you choose TVW, and what made us unique among other providers?

Excellent and quick responses, exceptional customer service and support. We experienced some issues during the survey and installation due to poor communication with our builders. Still, TVW supported us throughout, making adjustments, and the final product is better than what we had initially planned.
