The owners of this lovely detached period property in Midhurst, West Sussex, chose white Georgian casement windows from the Halo Flush Range to improve the façade and kerb appeal of their home.
The detached property is situated in the charming market town of Midhurst, in the heart of the South Downs National Park, West Sussex.
When the Midhurst homeowners contacted Thames Valley Windows, they had recently purchased the period property. They were keen to replace the existing timber casement windows with energy-efficient windows in a similar style without compromising the property’s period charm.
The solution was uPVC white Georgian casement windows, which respect the property’s heritage and improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of the living spaces.
Our designer, Rob, reached out to the Midhurst homeowners to discuss their window and door needs and budget. He recommended visiting our Bracknell showroom to explore the extensive range of uPVC and Timber window styles on display.
The Midhurst homeowners selected high-performance uPVC Halo Flush windows with a white wood-grain finish and glazing bars to replace the twelve original timber casement windows.
These new white uPVC Georgian casement windows with laminated glazed units provided improved acoustic insulation to reduce noise pollution, and outstanding thermal performance with a u-value of 1.4
The casement windows are side-hinged, allowing them to fully open like a door and providing exceptional natural light and ventilation throughout the property.
Halo’s uPVC profile, with its multi-chambered design, ensures excellent thermal performance.
All Halo standard window styles are designed with a focus on promoting sustainability and minimising the carbon footprint. They have received accreditation from the British Standards Institute for BS 7950, ensuring enhanced security performance of windows in residential properties, as well as for PAS 23/24, which focuses on weather performance.
The slim profiles of the white uPVC window frames maximise natural daylight and offer a clean, contemporary contrast to the white render that exudes timeless elegance.
The homeowners thoughtfully selected heritage-style antique black monkey tail handles and peg stays for their Georgian bar windows, adding a timeless and sophisticated, authentic period charm to the interior.
We also designed a secondary window for the beautiful arch window at the front of the house.
With a focus on natural light, soundproofing, and precision glazing, the project is centred around a double bay window in the bedroom and lounge. Building regulations require glazing companies to use toughened glass in bay windows, so the glazed units are made of laminated/toughened glass.
To minimise the possible “leak points” for noise in the bay casement windows, he designed them with a mixture of opening and fixed windows.
This beautiful period property highlights the importance of a bespoke glazing solution in achieving exceptional architectural results.
The slimline Halo Flush system, chosen for its flush fit and even clean, minimalist sightlines, laminated double glazing, and a U-Value of 1.4 (W/m²K), maximises light and reduces noise while serving both functional and aesthetic goals.
The improved thermal efficiency ensured the house’s energy performance while preserving its period aesthetic as a detached property.
The Midhurst homeowners were delighted with their white Georgian casement windows and the service Thames Valley Windows provided, and advised us of the following:
We had quotes from several companies. TVW were the only company that understood what we wanted, was able to create the windows and install them, and also came back with a realistic price rather than an absolutely outlandish one.
Rob, who visited us to understand what we wanted, was very knowledgeable about the subject and had first-hand experience of renovating an older property. He was able to advise us on various topics related to the windows, including what was possible, how to improve insulation for sound, and how to ensure that the supplied windows would match the existing look of the house.
The results were excellent. The windows matched the cottage’s look from the previous installation, yet they were an enormous upgrade in terms of soundproofing, heat retention, and increased natural light. The overall quality of the windows was impressive too – they feel solid.
TVW were one of two who didn’t attempt daft sales tactics with a hugely inflated price and then “let me talk to my manager” nonsense. Couple that with impressive knowledge of the subject and a good understanding of what we actually wanted, rather than trying to push extras.
Excellent. We experienced a couple of snags with the installation, which were resolved within a week or so. No fuss whatsoever. The installation was incredibly smooth, too, for such a significant project.
