A luxurious barn holiday home has been transformed with floor to ceiling gable end windows with the inclusion of large slimline sliding glass doors to flood the room with natural light and enjoy panoramic views of the Cotswolds countryside.
Although It has been nearly ten years since we installed the gable end windows and slimline sliding glass doors into this Oxfordshire holiday home, it is still a sought- after architectural glazing feature in 2021.
Floor to ceiling gable end glazing is on-trend and growing in popularity, designed to bring a sense of grandeur, to contemporary new builds and traditional properties.
This impressive property is situated in the idyllic rural village of Hook Norton. When the homeowners approached us for a glazing solution, they looked to maximise its potential by converting the barn and designing a sustainable luxury holiday home.
The Oxfordshire homeowners’ brief was for a solution to achieve maximum glazed appearance with a combination of slim aluminium profiles and flawless glazing that would have longevity and durability without compromising on aesthetic.
When the Oxfordshire homeowners approached us to design and install a glazing solution into two gable ends of the first-floor games room, they had just started the renovation of the barn conversion.
Our design director Ryan Schofield worked closely with the Oxfordshire homeowners to choose gable end windows from an aluminium glazing system to combine modern features with traditional heritage features such as stone mullion windows and arched stone doorways.
The Oxfordshire homeowners decided that Solarlux SL60 slimline aluminium fixed windows and SL142 sliding glass doors finished in beige grey RAL7006 would be a perfect choice and in keeping with the honey-coloured brickwork and for tying together the old and new elements.
The large apex window at the back of the games room offers a minimalist contemporary glazing solution that allows maximum light to fill the games room and provides uninterrupted views of the glorious setting and beyond to the rolling hills of Cotswolds. The insulated aluminium frames, sealed joints and Plantitherm toughened glass offers excellent thermal performance combined with excellent weather resistance to withstand any conditions it may face.
At the front of the games room, the gable end windows and slimline sliding doors add a grandeur touch with a contemporary feel both internally and externally. The sliding doors open onto a balcony making it the perfect place for holiday guests to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset.
Both the large aluminium gable-end windows provide symmetry and extend all the way to the apex of the roof pitches that offer an overwhelming feeling of space and luxury adding a light and airy character to the area.
Solarlux thermally broken aluminium profiles are a perfect steel frame option; they offer exceptional insulation and comply with current building regulations for renovation projects or new builds.
Factory finished and powder coated in any RAL colour, with a wide range of finishes, including marine grade and a dual colour option.
