Aluminium Clad Timber Tilt and Turn Doors and Windows with Integrated Blinds, Romsey

Location: Romsey, Southampton

We recently installed aluminium-clad timber tilt and turn doors and windows with integrated blinds throughout this traditional property situated in the highly desirable village of West Wellow, Romsey.

The Romsey homeowners have occupied their detached property for over ten years. Although the interior has been fully refurbished, they were keen to replace the existing double glazed white UPVC mock Georgian windows and traditional front door with a modern contemporary glazing solution.

After lots of online research, they decided they wanted European inward opening windows with Integrated Blinds and tilt and turn doors from Internorm.

Thames Valley Windows is an Internorm Distribution Partner for Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey. We have installed Internorm windows and doors into hundreds of new builds and home renovation projects, and our wealth of knowledge and expertise in this area of the glazing industry leaves us ideally placed to know the requirements of the Romsey home improvement project.

Our designer Luke contacted the homeowners to arrange an appointment at our showroom to fully understand their project and the aesthetics they were hoping to achieve for their property.

Luke worked with the clients to balance and scale the large Internorm windows and doors to achieve their vision of creating a contemporary and welcoming family home filled with an abundance of natural light.

The Romsey homeowners commissioned Thames Valley Windows to replace their existing windows and doors with Internorm high-quality aluminium-clad timber windows and doors that will last for decades to come.

Luke specified a combination of Internorm, Aluminium Clad Timber Windows with Integrated Blinds, Tilt and Turn Doors and large fixed windows from the studio and Home Pure range.

The low-maintenance aluminium exterior is finished in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) to complement the Heritage blend brickwork. The interior wood window frame is finished in natural spruce FI916, giving a bright, contemporary feel whilst adding an authenticity and warmth ambience to the interior décor.

The main architectural glazing feature is at the back of the property, with large fixed triangular windows set into the gable end, ensuring the open plan kitchen/living space is bathed with natural light and creates a stunning statement.

Solar controlled integral blinds automatically open and close at sunrise and sunset. Ideal privacy and sun protection solutions for contemporary minimalist living spaces alleviate the need for curtains or Venetian blinds. They are situated inside the glass unit, so they don’t gather dust or moisture and never need cleaning.

In bathrooms and kitchens, aluminium tilt and turn windows with built-in blinds are perfect.

Both remote and manually operated Integral blind systems are also popular for bi-folding doors.

A couple of benefits of tilt and turn windows is they can be designed in larger sizes than casement windows in both opening and fixed windows. The large panes of glass offer a room with a view and allow maximum natural light into living spaces.

Tilt and turn doors are hinged from the side with a specialised hinge system and offer two inward opening functions. They open inwards to access a patio or balcony and are tilted inwards for ventilation. The tilt function technology is only available on the ‘master door for French doors.

We also installed an Air sliding patio door and Pirnar Front Door to the Romsey property as part of the project.

This beautiful Romsey home has been finished to a high standard with the most exemplary attention to detail. The large aluminium clad windows offer stunning views over the Hampshire countryside. They are aesthetically pleasing and have enhanced the overall look of the detached property.

The homeowners are incredibly pleased with the Internorm products, installation and high standard and service provided by Thames Valley Windows. They also advised that they are particularly delighted with the triple-glazing, which enhances the thermal and sound insulation of the house.

They also advised:

In summary, the transformation of our house from white UPVC mock Georgian windows and a traditional front door to a modern contemporary grey metal finish, together with our soffit, fascia and roof work, is getting comments from all who visit. It was right to go with the big, bold window design and Pinar front door put forward by Luke rather than a more conventional smaller windowpane solution.

Internorm aluminium-clad timber window system offers similar aesthetics externally to traditional flush timber windows.

The exterior aluminium clad can withstand harsh weather and offers exceptional durability, longevity and low maintenance. They are available in double or triple-glazed and are energy efficient. The timber core achieves U-value ratings as low as 0.64 W/m2k.

Every Internorm window and door is bespoke and available in a range of external and internal finishes to suit any style of property

Our Bracknell showroom displays Internorm aluminium/timber studio and home window range as well as the bespoke HS330 aluminium/timber contemporary lift and slide door.
