Black Flush Aluminium Casement Windows and Doors for Tudor Style Home Renovation and Extension, Cobham

Location: Cobham

We recently installed these sleek and contemporary black flush aluminium casement windows and doors into this beautiful Tudor-style home renovation and extension in Cobham, Surrey.

The detached property was built in the 1930s and is situated on a popular residential road in the charming Surrey village of Cobham.

The Cobham homeowners selected Thames Valley Windows Windows to work alongside their architects and builders to transform their property into a luxurious family home.

The Cobham homeowners of this 1930s house engaged Concept 8 Architects to renovate, extend and reconfigure the property with a contemporary interior and for the ground floor to integrate the new rear extension with the garden to create a cohesive living space with a distinctive ‘wow’ factor both inside and out.

The architects were responsible for planning, building regulations, and the interior layout design to improve the space and the flowing entertaining space connecting the indoor and outdoor areas.

This was a fantastic opportunity for Thames Valley Windows to design and install a large minimal architectural glazing solution to transform this Tudor-style property into a family home that looked and performed better than ever.

Our sales director and designer, Paul, contacted the homeowners to discuss the homeowner’s renovation project and listen to their requirements.

Part of the homeowner’s brief was as their garden is south-facing, they wanted energy-efficient windows and doors that would maximise natural light throughout the home whilst allowing for visual connections with the garden and the incredible countryside views.

Concept 8 had worked with Paul on a few new builds and home renovation projects. The architect plans the homeowners sent to Paul featured Anthracite grey flush aluminium windows and minimalist sliding doors to the rear extension to provide a seamless connection between inside and outside.

The Cobham homeowners booked a showroom appointment with Paul to view the range of double and triple-glazed aluminium windows and doors on display to help them decide on the best minimalist glazing solution for their home renovation and extension project. Paul discussed the various window styles and colour options and compared different product designs, focusing on energy efficiency and contemporary aesthetics.

Whilst the property’s exterior had a few period features, our sales director, Paul, recommended that the fusion of traditional and modern would create a harmonious balance between old and new.

He recommended that double-glazed air Mod aluminium flush casement windows and Edgeglide glazed sliding doors provide the minimalistic contemporary aesthetics they require and offer impressive airtightness and thermal performance.

Air is an award-winning company that revolutionises aluminium glazing solutions.

For over 35 years, Air has been at the forefront of innovative product development; they are a market-leading UK aluminium window and door manufacturer renowned for slim sightlines. Their manufacturing complex is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to produce outstanding quality glazing products at the highest levels.

The air Mod window is a high-performing PAS 24 accredited and Document Q compliant. Every window is bespoke and designed to be flush inside and out, with an ultra-slim powder coat finish outer frame for maximum glass area to achieve a sleek, minimalistic aesthetic and offer outstanding performance, security and versatility.

The beauty lies within the profile with an innovative polyamide thermal break technology that provides a highly thermally insulated window that achieves low U-value up to 1.0 W/m2K

For enhanced security, high-performance handles are fitted with multi-point locking systems and interlocking beads that exceed British Standards for security.

Air Mod flush aluminium windows offer the ultimate minimalist aesthetics, whilst the larger glass-to-frame ratio provides outstanding thermal efficiency. The minimal frames are virtually maintenance-free.

Flush aluminium windows are on trend and a popular choice with homeowners and architects. They are plain enough for contemporary architecture, but the proportions and various options make them perfect for traditional properties.

As part of this home renovation, we also designed and installed sliding doors with low thresholds, a Pirnar entrance door and internal steel-look doors.

Internally and externally, this Cobham Tudor-style home renovation has been completed to an exceptionally high standard with the finest attention to detail, and the final result is breathtaking.

The Cobham homeowners chose a matt black RAL9005 for the external and internal finish for all the windows and sliding doors to fit in with their contemporary interior and traditional exterior.

Although the aluminium windows and doors are from two manufacturers, they complement each other perfectly.

The real wow factor of this impressive large-scale refurbishment project is the two sets of Edgeglide slimline sliding doors with flush thresholds at the rear of the property, creating a harmonious connection between the open plan kitchen/living area and the Loggia and garden.

The Edgeglide sliding door is a sleek and ultra-slim profile system that offers a stunning, almost-uninterrupted view of the garden and further enhances the natural light to create an airy, free-flow ground floor design.

A perfect combination of light-filled open-plan spaces alongside small, cosy, and even quirky living areas create the ideal family home.

Our ten-year guarantee is standard on all our replacement windows, doors and conservatories.
