Dark Grey French Patio Doors, Detached Mock Georgian Home, Windsor.

Location: Windsor

We recently installed these stunning matt grey steel look French patio doors to a charming detached Mock Georgian home in Windsor.

The Windsor property was built by Charles Church in 1988; it is situated on a sought-after and exclusive gated residential development near The Long Walk, Windsor Great Park and Windsor Town Centre.

The homeowners have been customers of Thames Valley Windows since 2015. We installed replacement sliding sash windows and recently installed a timber front door, so we were delighted when they contacted us to help refresh their home.

They advised that the existing large conservatory had subsided, so it needed to be demolished and replaced with an energy-efficient glazing solution that was in keeping with the character of the Mock Georgian property.

They were keen to create an industrial contrast with their traditional Mock Georgian property, using large French door doors designed with an industrial steel look, so they were eager for Thames Valley Windows to help bring their vision to life.

Our architectural designer Michael has a wealth of experience and extensive knowledge in the glazing industry. He is design-conscious and passionate about bringing your vision to life whilst being transparent and guiding you every step to ensure your project runs evenly from design to completion. He offers and delivers ‘The Complete Building Service’ for our traditional conservatories, contemporary Orangeries and modern glass extension with a dedication to aesthetics and precision that complement your property and lifestyle.

Michael contacted the Windsor homeowners to listen to their requirements and discuss their home renovation project and recommended an appointment at our Bracknell Showroom.

Our showroom displays some of the latest design innovations in windows and doors to suit all properties. There is nothing like the opportunity to view, feel and find the perfect glazing products for your home.

Choosing your new windows and doors can be daunting, knowing where to begin and what style to have. It takes a lot of time, research, discussions, planning, and discussions, so walking around our state-of-the-art showroom is an experience. It allows you to discuss your project with one of our designers, who can offer you invaluable advice and guidance whilst you get a closer look at windows and doors and get a feel for their exceptional quality and impressive performance.

Michael discussed the French patio door options with the Windsor homeowners at the appointment. The Windsor homeowners were unsure if they wanted black or grey French doors; after careful consideration, they decided that the Heritage 47 patio doors finished in RAL7016 Matt grey provided the iconic art deco industrial look they wanted.

Traditional steel-framed doors of the 1800s inspire heritage 47 French patio doors, but they are now double-glazed and energy efficient. They are manufactured in the UK by Everglade.

Everglade is one of the UK’s top bespoke high-end windows and doors manufacturers. With that comes innovative, modern, leading-edge technology that not only looks great but offers outstanding thermal efficiency

If you require British craftsmanship, then Everglade aluminium windows and doors are the perfect choice. An award-winning manufacturer has produced beautiful bespoke windows and doors for over 35 years. The Heritage 47 system is carefully manufactured with attention to detail to closely replicate the slim sightlines and proportions of the original steel doors and window frames.

Heritage 47 is manufactured from a durable and resilient aluminium frame with a polyamide thermal break, offering low U Values of typically 1.5 W/m2K that provide high insulation levels. It is fitted with a multi-point locking system as standard.

All the double-glazed units are argon gas-filled, warm edge spacer bars, and A+ rated toughened; this combined wind resistance of 2400 pa and water tightness of up to 600 pa means they offer outstanding energy efficiency and insulation, which help to lower energy bills and keep your home at a comfortable temperature all year round.

The Heritage 47 system is a cost-effective alternative to steel windows and doors for listed buildings, period properties, and conservation areas where planning regulations require a like-for-like replacement product.

Steel-look French patio doors are on-trend and add a beautiful, opulent and sophisticated focal point to any room.

Throughout the project, Michael maintained a collaborative relationship with the Windsor homeowners, involving them at every stage, from removing the old conservatory and base to completion. Our surveyor and installation team ensured a smooth transition from the survey to installing French patio doors to the office and lounge.

The end result is stunning; the slim frames of the aluminium French doors offer industrial aesthetics, whilst the large glass panels provide maximum transparency and natural light to the living spaces and provide uninterrupted views of the garden.

The lounge’s double French doors add character and blend perfectly with the interior décor and open out to the garden connecting with the indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Windsor Homeowners are delighted with their sliding sash windows and steel-look French doors and advised:

We chose the windows and doors based on the quality, price, and previous good experiences with Thames Valley Windows. The steel-look French patio doors certainly met our expectations, and in particular, the internal windows framing and wood-style texturing of the PVC sash windows are very impressive. The installers were helpful and went the extra mile to meet our high expectations.
