Bespoke Pale Green Windows for a Luxury Oak-Framed Home in Surrey

Location: Chiddingfold, Surrey

Thames Valley Windows supplied and installed a complete bespoke glazing package of Rationel AURAPLUS pale green windows and Solarlux bifolding doors for this exceptional luxury oak-framed home in the highly desirable Surrey village of Chiddingfold. Renowned for its unspoilt countryside and rich heritage dating back to 1285, the new build required a bespoke glazing solution that respected tradition while delivering modern performance.

Surrounded by rolling countryside, the original property on the site was carefully demolished to make way for a thoughtfully designed contemporary home constructed around natural oak materials. From the outset, our designer, Liam, worked closely with the homeowners to ensure every glazing detail aligned perfectly with their vision for a modern yet characterful oak-framed residence.

A Bespoke Glazing Solution

This project brought together glazing products from three premium European manufacturers, highlighting Thames Valley Windows’ ability to deliver complex, bespoke glazing solutions with seamless results.

The final specification included:

  • Rationel AURAPLUS triple-glazed windows
  • Solarlux Highline aluminium bifolding doors
  • A contemporary Pirnar oak entrance door with sidelights

All external window and door frames were finished in the elegant heritage shade pale green (RAL 6021), chosen to complement the warm tones of the natural oak structure. Internally, frames were finished in RAL 9010 Pure White, creating a clean, bright aesthetic throughout the home.

Such attention to detail extended even to the planning stage, with approval sought not only for the oak-framed design but also for the distinctive pale green aluminium-clad window and door frames, an essential element of the home’s architectural aesthetics.

High-Performance Pale Green Windows for a Passivhaus-Level Build

The Rationel AURAPLUS windows with triple glazing achieved an exceptional average U-value of 0.81 and a WER rating of 16.3, remarkable performance metrics for a project of this type and perfectly in line with Passivhaus standards.

These pale green windows contribute to the building’s airtight envelope while blending effortlessly into the surrounding landscape. Designed with slim, minimalist profiles, AURAPLUS windows deliver a contemporary architectural look that perfectly matches the homeowners’ modern design brief.

Internally, the natural timber frames provide a warm Scandinavian feel, while the aluminium-clad exterior offers excellent durability with minimal maintenance. Narrow sightlines maximise daylight and frame uninterrupted views across the surrounding countryside.

In addition, AURAPLUS windows make a positive energy contribution, achieving up to +31 kWh/m² per year, helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and lower heating costs. Enhanced thermal comfort, fewer drafts, and a healthier indoor climate are all benefits of this advanced glazing system.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living with Solarlux Bifolding Doors

Due to the exceptional width and height of the rear openings, Liam recommended Solarlux Highline bifolding doors, selected for their outstanding structural strength and ultra-slim aluminium profiles.

German-designed and manufactured, the award-winning Highline system features a thermally broken aluminium frame with an innovative bionicTURTLE® thermal break. These bifolding doors offer excellent energy efficiency, achieving U-values as low as 1.1 W/m²K, alongside impressive security credentials including RC3 burglary resistance.

With panel widths of up to 1.1 metres and heights of up to 3.5 metres, the bifold doors create expansive glazed openings that flood the living spaces with natural light. When opened, they provide a seamless connection between inside and out, delivering a true sense of tranquillity, privacy, and connection to nature.

A Striking Entrance and Architectural Cohesion

The home’s entrance is marked by a striking Pirnar contemporary oak door with sidelights, which sits beautifully alongside the pale green window frames. Together, the combination of oak and soft green tones gives the property a refined yet welcoming presence.

Throughout the home, large areas of glazing ensure every room benefits from abundant natural light and uninterrupted countryside views, elevating both everyday living and architectural impact.

A Project to Be Proud Of

Despite the complexity of using multiple bespoke glazing systems, Thames Valley Windows ensured a smooth installation process and a cohesive finish throughout—inside and out, front to back.

Pale green windows and bifolding doors set within oak surrounds give this home a contemporary edge while preserving the timeless charm of an oak-framed new build.

Designed by Ashtown Architecture and built by Oakwrights, this meticulously crafted home reflects exceptional build quality and design excellence.
