Blog: When should I replace my double glazing windows?

Most of us inherit our windows from the previous home owner and if we’re lucky, the windows are perfectly fine. However, if the windows are more than 10 years old, are damaged, ill-fitting, or just not looking their best, it may be time to think about replacing them.

Other than the functional purpose of letting in light, your windows should also keep your home secure, free from drafts and block out most noise from the outside. You don’t have to replace like-for-like. Double glazed windows are available in uPVC, timber, timber-effect, aluminium or composite and in a range of colours, finishes and configurations.

The benefits of replacing your double-glazed windows can include; the value of your property increasing, your energy bills reducing and your home having a fresh new look. Security is also like to be improved.

To ensure your replacement windows perform at their optimum level and look good for as long as possible, they should be fitted by expert installers. As with anything, regular checks and cleaning will ensure you get the most out of your windows’ life span.
