Grey Triple Glazed Windows and Doors, Stunning New Build, Finchampstead

Location: Finchampstead

A prestigious, low-energy, and sustainable new build in Finchampstead was constructed with high-performance grey triple-glazed windows and doors manufactured by Internorm.

Peacefully tucked away and set in beautifully landscaped grounds, it is in the delightful rural setting of Finchampstead, close to the charming market town of Wokingham.

Planning permission was initially sought to enable the demolition of the existing Edwardian house and the proposal for the new contemporary house. Due to the surroundings, particular interest was taken into account for the wildlife and the environment.

This stunning bespoke contemporary detached property has been designed to the very highest specifications by a local architect and purpose-built by a construction company. The brief was to replace an existing property with ‘an energy-efficient modern family home with extensive use of glass throughout to allow ample natural light to flow through the building.’

The Wokingham homeowners are existing customers of Thames Valley Windows, where we have installed windows and doors at their previous properties. Large amounts of glazing were fundamental to the design of the new build, so we were delighted that they recommended us to their builder and architect to design and install the windows and doors.

Ryan Schofield, MD at Thames Valley Windows, worked closely with the architects and developers to design a low-energy and sustainable glazing solution for the contemporary new build.

Every glazing element of this new build was approached with the utmost attention to detail, ensuring that the architectural glazing solution was designed to the highest standards to enhance the aesthetic and functionality of the property while meeting the specific needs and requirements of the architects and homeowners.

Ryan chose Internorm HF310 triple-glazed timber alu-clad windows and doors from the studio range for this Wokingham new build to achieve the overall U values and thermal performance specified by the architect.

The Internorm studio range is contemporary and luxurious. It offers exceptional thermal insulation and superior acoustic performance, with an excellent U-value of just 0.6 W/m2k. The modern square-edge profile and a flush sash outer frame provide clean and elegant lines with a contemporary aesthetic and are key features in architectural simplicity and minimilism.

The innovative, highly insulating foam between the timber frame and the external aluminium profile ensures exceptional thermal insulation and significantly increases the performance of the timber aluminium-clad windows.

The slow-grown European timber is from sustainable forests; only the finest knot-free timbers are selected.

Internorm is a leading European window and door brand and has been manufacturing high-quality glazing products for over 90 years.

They are known worldwide for their quality, innovation, and precision engineering. They are renowned for high-quality windows and doors available in a myriad of colours and styles.

To ensure a contemporary design, the Wokingham homeowners opted for a combination of tilt & turn and fixed windows. This also included a large glazed entrance atrium and a shaped gable on the rear elevation. The dual-function handle mechanism allows a turn function to open the window inward and a tilt ventilation at the top.

The Finchampstead homeowners chose the powder-coated aluminium RAL9007 matt grey aluminium for the exterior aluminium clad and spruce colour (FI500) for the interior to add a touch of distinction and natural warmth to the property decor.

The curved facade is an innovative design feature that showcases the Internorm HF310 triple-glazed windows to the fullest and takes full advantage of panoramic views of the landscaped garden.

All the window frames have been hidden into the walls to maximise the glass area and give the appearance of a virtually frameless window, offering an unobstructed view and transparency.

Our project manager worked closely with the builders and homeowners to deliver and install all windows and doors on time to meet the build schedule.

The end result is exceptional. The new build embraces both contemporary and classic design features; triple-glazed windows and doors by Internorm complement cream-coloured k-renderers, and the prominent façade glass-fronted gable glazing set in traditional delabole stone facade is a striking feature that adds the wow factor to the Wokingham new build.

Gable end windows are ideal for maximising natural light within a property. The front of the property makes an impressive entrance. The large fixed and shaped windows to the roofline above the modern aluminium/timber front door invite maximum daylight and transparency throughout the hallway.

Overall, this Finchampstead new build is the epitome of luxury. It has been designed and built as an energy-efficient family home with modern, large, grey triple-glazed windows and doors.

The master bedroom features a stunning large glass wall of fixed, inward-opening windows leading to the balcony overlooking the landscape garden.

The drawing and dining room offer an almost fully glazed living space with large floor-to-ceiling HS330 lift-and-slide doors that break down boundaries between the inside and outside and enrich the experience of being in both. During the warmer months, the doors slide open to bring the outside in and create a seamless link to the garden.

The HS330 lift and slide doors are extremely aesthetically pleasing and are one of the leading sliding patio door systems that offer outstanding acoustic performance and thermal efficiency with low u values of 0.8. The innovative and robust lift and slide system glides effortlessly with the minimalist touch

The Finchampstead homeowners were delighted with their grey triple-glazed windows and doors and advised:

Having decided to build our own home, we looked for the most energy-efficient windows and settled on Internorm, which we used throughout. Looking for a supplier/installer, we were very pleased to see that TVW was an Internorm partner. Having used TVW for replacement windows/doors in a couple of our previous homes, we were aware of the quality of their work and the helpfulness of their installation teams.

I have to say we were not disappointed. They worked closely with us and our architect during the design phase. In addition to Internorm, we chose the stunning Pinar front door with a fingerprint scanner, and an Air sliding door was suggested for the top floor for its slim lines and sectional design, making it easier to get up two flights of stairs! Every detail was considered to ensure the windows looked balanced from inside and out. Absolutely brilliant!

We are so pleased with the look of the finished house, our choice of Internorm windows, which have proven to be excellent in quality and performance and TVW as our contractor. We do not intend to build another house or move again, but if we did, TVW would be the first people we would call.

The Finchampstead homeowners also gave us a glowing 5-star Trustpilot review and lovely feedback

In addition to installing high-performance grey triple-glazed windows into this Finchampstead New Build , we also installed Solarlux Combiline Bifold doors into the kitchen, and Air 500LS into the 2nd floor bedroom, and a Pirnar entrance door.

Our double glazing showroom in Bracknell showcases a wide range of windows and doors, so whether you are looking for grey uPVC windows or anthracite grey(RAL 7016) aluminium windows one of our designers will help you choose the best glazing solution for your project.
