Open Plan Kitchen Orangery Extension with Bifold Doors, Bracknell

Location: Bracknell

This stunning open-plan kitchen orangery extension project in Warfield, Bracknell, certainly provides the homeowners with a free-flowing living space for cooking, dining and entertaining.

When the Bracknell homeowners contacted us, they had only recently purchased the property, and they decided they wanted a complete overhaul of the ground floor, so they requested a quote for a multi-functional rear Orangery extension to replace the existing outdated white uPVC conservatory.

The detached family home is located on a sought-after residential road in Warfield Bracknell.

Our architectural designer, Michael, specialises in designing and building Orangery extensions. He contacted the Warfield homeowners to discuss their single-storey rear extension project and listened to their renovation requirements.

Part of the homeowner’s brief was that they wanted to add more space to their property that would become the heart of their family home. They were keen on a stylish and contemporary open-plan kitchen Orangery extension with dark Bifold Doors to the back of their property, creating a versatile space where they could cook, eat, relax and socialise.

The orangery design needed to be suitable for the busy daily family lifestyle but would also accommodate larger social gatherings with family and friends.

After understanding the family’s requirements, Michael used his expertise and took inspiration from homeowners’ needs, tastes and the existing architectural features of the property. He designed architectural plans and drawings of a stunning bespoke anthracite grey aluminium open plan kitchen Orangery extension across part of the rear elevation of the property that blends modern aesthetics with the existing traditional architecture of the main house but offers the homeowners the much-needed living space they visualised.

Due to the height and width of the side openings, Michael recommended Solarlux Highline bi-folding doors due to the constructional stability of the aluminium profile, also a large Atlas aluminium roof lantern to allow in plenty of natural light to create a bright and airy open plan kitchen Orangery extension.

The German-designed and manufactured Highline is an award-winning thermally broken bifold door system with high-performance energy benefits with ultra-slim sightlines and a multi-functional fibreglass-reinforced polyamide bionicTURTLE® thermal break.

Highline external bifold doors offer superb thermal insulation. They benefit from highly secure multi-point locking systems and innovative technology to achieve RC3 burglary resistance.

The Highline insulated aluminium profile are incredibly durable and robust and offers outstanding energy efficiency with a 99mm profile they are one of the slimmest sightlines on the market. Available with double or triple glazing, it provides vast glazed areas with a door panel width of up to 1.1 meters wide and height of 3.5 meters, achieving U-values as low as 1.1 W/m2K.

Attention to detail and innovative contemporary architectural design are at the heart of the European market-leading German-engineered bifold and sliding door systems. They are rigorously tested for weather protection, including wind resistance, air permeability, and water tightness.

This is an exceptional open-plan Orangery extension that has been designed and finished to the highest of standards, with quality minimalistic features and unrivalled clean line details meeting all the needs of modern open-plan living.

Featuring two sets of bi-folding doors with minimalist flush tracks to create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living spaces. When closed, they offer a virtually frameless glass solution for unobstructed garden views.

Solarlux’s innovative opening mechanism allows all the large glass door panels to slide quietly and smoothly to the right and open outwards in a concertina style to open the Orangery to the garden completely.

The first door panel opens independently with a multi-point lock to operate as a traffic door, also known as a slave door.

The high-quality, stainless-steel designer flat door handles add the finishing touch to the dark grey aluminium framed bifold doors whilst offering superb anti-burglary protection.

The low-maintenance aluminium frame is finished in powder-coated RAL7016 anthracite grey on the exterior and interior.

The double-glazed Climaguard glass units are filled with argon gas with a soft coat Low E Glass finish and a black spacer bar to provide optimal thermal efficiency performance and maintain a comfortable temperature all year round.

The elegant centrally placed vaulted glass roof lantern emphasises the sense of space and floods the living space with natural light. The double-glazed sealed units incorporate self-cleaning solar reflective glass, reducing heat and glare build-up in the summer months.

The dark anthracite grey Orangery creates ultra-modern contemporary aesthetics. It offers a breathtaking architectural feature that maximises space and instantly enhances the rear facade of the Bracknell property, fulfils the homeowner’s brief and has become the heart of the home.

The Bracknell homeowners are delighted with their open-plan Kitchen Orangery extension.

We had previously used TVW for another project and had a really good experience. I liked the way both Paul and Michael both took the time to listen and fully understand our requirements and designed a bespoke solution.

Our experience with other companies in this space was not the same, and we often felt they were trying to sell us as a standard solution or one that they preferred rather than to our tastes.

We have been delighted with the outcome from the initial consultation, design work, and project management to the delivered product.

The whole team involved were very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend TVW to others.
