Whilst aluminium enjoys a renaissance with contemporary design, it has always remained a popular choice for period or traditional properties too. Whether you’re looking to replace existing steel or Crittall® windows, maintain a slimmer sightline, restore a more period character look to your home, or if you are in a listed building or conservation area, then our traditional aluminium windows are a perfect choice.
With many properties from the 1920s-1950s, or pre-1880, having slim metal windows, the existing opening dimensions can be better suited to a slimmer frame to maximise the glass area and original proportions.
Our traditional aluminium range is available both internally and externally glazed, depending on your preference. We can also offer a choice of a bevelled casement and frame detail, as well as a completely unique fully featured internal mullion and outer frame.
Our traditional aluminium range offers a fixed sight line of as little as 47mm and our casement-to-casement dimension is one of the narrowest on the market at just 112mm! With low ‘e’ double glazing, the window offers an overall u-value of 1.6w/m²k – in line with building regulation requirements. For more energy efficient projects we also offer a composite alu-clad system from Internorm, with fully sculpted outer frame and casements which will achieve anything up to 0.69w/m²k and is fully Passivehaus certified.
We have a stock range of powder coated finish colour options including white, anthracite grey and black, which are available on reduced lead times. We are also able to offer any RAL colour subject to preference and final design.
Our traditional aluminium system also offers a full residential door range for single doors and French doors, as well as an In-Line Slider suitable for openings of up to 4000mm. The aluminium window can also be combined perfectly with our bespoke aluminium bi-folding and sliding door solutions from Solarlux and Internorm for larger opening sizes and higher performance.
We also offer a full range of bespoke Heritage aluminium windows and doors carefully designed to closely replicate the proportions and detail of an original crittal frame. With a minimal 58mm outer frame and casement measurement they have the slimmest proportions on the market. These can be installed as a complete frame directly to the brickwork or set in to new or existing timber sub-frames or stone mullions. They provide all the benefits of modern glazing with good thermal performance and security as well as significantly improved acoustic performance. Additional options for a flat aluminium glazing bar with an impressive ‘wrap over’ detail to replicate an art-deco Georgian look or traditional leaded light glazing.
Both our traditional aluminium and Heritage ranges can be used in conservation areas and listed buildings, subject to relevant approvals where necessary.
