Conservatory Refurbishment, Wokingham

Location: Wokingham

We recently completed a conservatory refurbishment at a family home in Barkham, Wokingham, by designing and installing a modern uPVC orangery. Customer retention is important to us. It had been ten years since our clients purchased a brand-new front door from us! We were delighted that they chose to return to us for their conservatory upgrade.

Our clients were looking to refurbish their existing conservatory, which had a polycarbonate roof so struggled to retain heat during the winter was unbearably hot in summer and noisy when raining. They felt that it was now time for it to be upgraded to give it a new lease of life and create a light and airy extended living area that would maintain a consistent temperature throughout the year.

When deciding it was time to replace their conservatory our clients visited our Bracknell showroom, as part of our design consultation, we discussed the various materials and glazing options and provided architect drawings. This modern Livin room Orangery, while straightforward in its design, creates an impressive feature on this detached property.

To match their existing windows and doors on the property, our clients chose rosewood with a woodgrain finish for the exterior uPVC frames and white on the interior this helps to make the inside brighter. The Orangery is designed with a combination of double glazed full-length windows with vertical opening and fixed windows with high-security multi-point locks. This selection of window openings allows our clients to open up the windows wide to ventilate their Livin room when necessary and also use an electric roof vent when only a small amount of ventilation is required. The narrower frames allow more natural daylight to permit through the glass to brighten up the interior and naturally warm the living space, making it more energy-efficient.

The structure has benefitted from an Ultraframe hipped replacement conservatory roof that is glazed in modern self-cleaning solar control glass. This specialist glass coating moderates the heat build-up and glare of the sun in the summer months while during the winter months keep the warmth in maintaining an enjoyable temperature all year round. Black guttering and downpipe have been incorporated to match the main guttering of the house.

The internal French doors and single door were made to measure for a perfect fit. The interior pelmet features contemporary low voltage downlights to create a homely atmosphere. The furniture accessories include gold handles and hinges, which add a beautiful finishing touch to the whole conservatory refurbishment project.

Thames Valley Windows worked with our recommended home improvement builder on the removal of the old conservatory and internal work. The existing conservatory roof and side frames, including all the doors and windows were removed, leaving the current base in place. Our installation team arrived at the property on a chilly February morning. They worked quickly and professionally so that the new windows and roof was installed and watertight in five days. Thanks to the dedicated hard work of the team the Livin room Orangery with panoramic views of the garden was already looking fantastic when the builders returned to complete the interior work of plastering, electrics and tiled flooring. The final touches were finished with the muted tones of soft furnishing to create a tranquil feel.

The Ultraframe Livin room which leads off the dining room has become the favourite room in the house, creating a relaxed and calming atmosphere. Our clients have now been enjoying their new Orangery for over eight months. They have advised us that the room is so much quieter and peaceful,  it is refreshing and cool in the summer and in wintertime, it is warm and snug. With regards to Thames Valley Windows, they left us this wonderful Trustpilot review of which we are incredibly proud:

Beautiful new Orangery We have recently had our dilapidated 1990s conservatory been converted into a beautiful Orangery with Underfloor Heating and Downlighting. From an initial meeting with Design Director Paul Schofield, through the demolition, the construction phase and finishing, Thames Valley Windows and their team of trade professionals worked together to provide a high end living space addition to our Home. We experienced minimal disruption during the project which was completed in 6 weeks and on budget. We are delighted with the result and Highly recommend this Company.
